Tinder goes on Twitter rant over 'Vanity Fair' article Popular dating app Tinder erupted into a storm of angry, impassioned tweets after Vanity Fair published an article suggesting that today's world of left and right swipes is undermining traditional dating norms. Journalist Nancy Jo Sales recently wrote the lengthy article that suggested apps such as Tinder are contributing to the "dawn of the dating apocalypse," in which genuine relationships are bypassed for hookups and one-night stands. The article also touches upon the misogyny that possibly exists within the modern dating culture. In response, Tinder went on a 30-tweet rampage, taking many swipes at Sales and her reporting. Tinder said the app it is not a part of the "dating apocalypse," but rather in the midst of reviving the dating culture by building something that "is changing the world" and leading to "meaningful relationships." Sales responds: After Tuesday's controversy, Tinder issued a statement to The New York Times on Wednesday that said it went too far in its reaction to the Vanity Fair article. "While reading the recent Vanity Fair article about today's dating culture, we were saddened to see that the article didn't touch upon the positive experiences that the majority of our users encounter daily," the statement said. "Our intention was to highlight the many statistics and amazing stories that are sometimes left unpublished, and, in doing so, we overreacted."
